Communication is key. It’s important to have an open dialogue with your kids about Weplay and internet safety in general. Just as you do in the real world, be involved. Discuss how you can use Weplay to communicate with other parents, coaches and teammates.

Reinforce that rules in the real world often apply to online activity. Your kids know to be careful when speaking to strangers when they leave the house, right? Well the same rule applies online. Remind your kids to talk to you about their experiences. Ask them to report any unwanted and harassing contact to you immediately as well as to Weplay using the “Report Inappropriate” links you see on the site.

Parents play a crucial role in keeping the lines of communication open and enforcing online safety best practices. It starts with you.

Coaches play an important role in a team’s online world. The lessons you are teaching kids on the field can also be applied online. Kids depend on coaches for more than just position assignments or rides to practices and games. Since they often look to their coaches for guidance as role models, stay involved and be aware.

Good sportsmanship extends beyond the field and into our everyday lives. So work with your team on how to stay positive online. If you wouldn’t say something out loud on the field, don’t say it online either.

Taking the high road in the real world can also be applied online. If someone is harassing your team or a member of your team, block them. Encourage your team not to retaliate, but to stay positive. Blocking someone prevents them from contacting you in the future.

Communicate with your team about how to be safe online as well as in the real world. You don’t want strangers hanging out in your lockerroom or dugout, right? Monitor your group members and activity to make sure everyone belongs there.

If you come across comments or images on your team page that are inappropriate, report them to Weplay. These reports are confidential. We work hard to keep Weplay a safe, fun environment for you and your team. You can help us when you report violations of our Terms of Use by using the "Report Inappropriate" feature present on all media, comments, discussions, news and blogs.

Use Weplay to communicate with coaches and teammates. Keep up with changes to practice and game schedules. Share photos and videos with friends and family. Be a good sport on the field and on Weplay.

Make use of the controls Weplay has provided you across the site to report inappropriate communication or content.

Control who sees your profile, pictures and video by adjusting your privacy settings.

If another user continues to be a problem, block them. Adding them to your block list will prevent them from contacting you.

If you are not sure why someone is reaching out to you on Weplay, check with a parent or coach and ask them to review the information with you.

10 Easy Rules to Help You Stay Safe

1. When using email, instant message, message boards, comments or any feature that allows you to enter text or talk, never give out personal information, such as your last name, home address, phone number, social security number, or the name and location of your school or favorite place to hangout.
2. Your username is your member name, which is displayed throughout the site for people to see. Don’t use your last name or hometown in your username. This will keep people you don’t know from finding out more about you.
3. Your password is your secret. You don’t want to give the scary neighborhood kid who never says “hi” access to your information, right? Of course not! Keep your password safe.
4. Please read our Privacy Policy.
5. The Internet is open to anyone. Only upload and add content you don’t mind other people seeing. If you’re not sure whether you should upload or say something, then don’t.
6. Kids, never agree to meet someone (in public) you met online without first asking your parents. If your parents are cool with it, meet in a public place and bring your mom or dad along.
7. Don’t respond to any messages that in any way make you feel uncomfortable. It’s not your fault if you get a message like that. Let us know and we’ll take care of it for you.
8. If someone sends you something to download, check with your parents. You never want to download anything or install software provided to you from people you don’t know.
9. If anyone makes you feel unsafe anywhere online, tell someone you trust. Ask them to help you report the event to the Web site or proper authorities.
10. Finally, display good sportsmanship here and across the Internet. Be an example and don’t do anything that might hurt someone’s feelings.

Our Goal

Our goal is to provide you with a fun, lively and sportsmanlike environment. With this in mind we’ve established some fundamental guidelines for all members and visitors. Before we get to the guidelines, we want to remind you to first:

Shout out. Sharing is a big part of Weplay and a great way to make friends, discover groups, share stories and media, and improve your experience on the site. So, please invite your friends, leave comments, enter contests, rate photos and videos – participate!

Community Guidelines

1. We put garbage in the trashcan. Content that is abusive, obscene, violent, racist or just plain creepy does not belong here. If you come across any such content, report it to us and we’ll take the appropriate action.
2. Manners wanted. Poking fun, mocking, or bringing up disruptive political or religious topics is unacceptable. If someone is being a pest, kindly ask them to stop. If they continue, please report them to us and remove them as a friend or group member.
3. Some things are best kept a secret. You don’t want to see your personal information floating around the Internet, right?! If anyone asks for your personal information online, we suggest you tell them no.
4. Focused communication. Please post content that is relevant to you or the specific group or person with whom you’re interacting. Going off topic is confusing. Please also note that spam and solicitations are not welcome.
5. Needless repeats. It’s annoying when the same content is posted more than once to any group or profile. Please help us all avoid déjà vu.
6. Invitation management. Please only send one group or friend invitation out to fellow members. Any member rejecting an invite can always send a request to you if they made a mistake.
7. Cheating is for losers. Just like in sports, there are penalties for breaking the rules or attempting to cause harm. Any member attempting to login as another member or engage in risky activities like hacking the site (which is against U.S. Federal law) will be removed from Weplay.
8. Droppin’ us a line. We will always do our best to respond to all member and visitor questions, suggestions or complaints in a timely manner. We appreciate your patience while we review and reply to all of our messages.
9. Support our judgment. When Weplay’s Code of Conduct or Terms of Use is enforced, we ask that all members and visitors respect the decisions of Weplay staff members.
10. Jog your memory. Please review the other areas of the Weplay Safety Center. It contains good information and helpful reminders for Internet users of all ages.
