Sore But Ready For More

One week of two-a-day practices in the books! And now up early with another week of tough practices coming up. I'm sore and excited and ready to get back out there with the team. Overall, I'm hanging in there, everyone has been great on our team as far as supporting and being encouraging. And I have to say I'm holding my own, so I'm very happy.
My family and friends have also been very supportive throughout. Not like anyone needs to go out of their way giving me any advice or anything like that as I think people are cautious about doing that. But I have received nothing but encouragement. Just like, "It is so great that you're doing this!"
Overall, I think they really appreciate that I'm doing this. And they have just been so encouraging. You know the pat on the back or the high five, this is so great. So maybe that's been the advice, just go out there and do it.
For my family, this is definitely going to be an adjustment. My husband and I were just talking about this, actually. They'll be some changes, of course. But Jaden will still go to school on the days he's supposed to go. We'll balance. Some days my husband will pick him up and on other days I'll be home as quickly as I can to take him to Spanish class. We're going to make it work, just like other families do.
As the season gets closer, I think one thing I'm really looking forward to is playing against old friends. Our first game is against Boston, and that's Kristine Lilly's team. She's basically one of my best friends. I don't think I've ever really sat with her and said, "Hey how do you like playing against me?" But for me, I've always loved playing against Lil. She's such a hard worker and it doesn't matter that she's played more international games than anyone else in the world. She's still working hard and give it her all. It's inspiring to play against and with somebody like that, so it's gonna be fun.
One thing I've gotten a lot of questions about... the new uniforms. Ha! I saw some of the photos before we got to practice because there was a mini fashion show in NYC with Puma for the launch. I saw the skirts they were wearing and was like WHAT? I sent a text message immediately to my teammate Leslie who was there like, "We're wearing skirts in our game?!" And she wrote back laughing, "No, there just for hanging around... just for the runway." I'm like, "Oh my gosh. Ok good, we're wearing SOCCER uniforms."
So they're good. They're classy uniforms. I think they all have their small distinct differences. The skort is just for I think casual wear. For me, soccer is meant to be played in shorts.
That's pretty much it. Having lots of fun, working hard and ready for more. Week 2, here I come.

Good "GIRL" - hope your season will go well and stay healthy.
Myself at 61 am still trying to do be involved ON the field, but must say playing days are over. And YES... stick with shorts!
cool
Brandi - what is the best way to recover from being real sore after practices or games? I am a very physical player and it, as you know, takes its toll on ones body. Is there a "best drink" or recovery drink, ice bath that helps best? Thanks.
